Since I started running I have used a couple of different bags to carry my essentials but had never tried the Buddy Pouch so was excited by the opportunity to review one and share it with my readers. Due to the size of my phone (Samsung S7 edge) which I take on runs and the need to carry my inhaler I was sent the largest Buddy Pouch to review, the 7 XXL, however, they are all very similar and the size is the only difference. All available models can be found on their website www.thebuddypouch.co.uk/.
What is a Buddy Pouch for?
Although a Buddy Pouch is predominantly aimed at runners it could be used really by anyone. I can imagine that it would be great for walkers, cyclists, or even just if you want to keep your money close to you whilst out travelling as unlike a belted waist bag it can not be turned around or cut off as easily by a potential thief.
My initial views of the Buddy Pouch
When I first opened the Buddy Pouch I was unsure as to whether the magnets would be strong enough because I had only ever used a belted bag I was sceptical about whether magnets could really be strong and secure enough and my phone wouldn’t end up broken. I was impressed with the small zipped area so that headphones can be used with my phone or iPod in the Buddy Pouch and do think this is a great idea. I love the fact the pocket is water-resistant so however much I sweat my phone won’t get damp!
How big is the Buddy Pouch in reality?
The 7 inch Buddy Pouch is the one the company state is ideal for a phone like mine. I have a Samsung S7 Edge in a case that is the same kind of size as other large phones like the iPhone 6s Plus. I also need to carry an inhaler whenever I am out running and like most people also a key and some cash. The pictures above and below show everything I carried in my bag throughout the run.
How well did the Buddy Pouch stay put when running?
Initially, it took a bit of getting used to running with the pouch as it felt like it was going to fall off. This, however, wasn’t the case as every time I checked it wasn’t loose at all so I think it was psychological because I am used to running with a belt type bag. The further I ran the more I got used to it and it was fine! The Buddy Pouch stayed in place well and didn’t come away from my clothes or undone throughout my run.
Delivery and Value for Money
The Buddy Pouch came well packaged and very quickly. The size of Buddy Pouch I have is £26.50 however the range starts at £14.99 for a small one. The variety of Buddy Pouches available can be found here. When you compare them with many alternatives such as armbands and belt type bags the prices are very comparable so I guess it comes down to preference. If you don’t like the feel of something on your arm or don’t like the belt type bags then this most definitely is for you.
Would I recommend it?
Yes I definitely would, it very much does what it says and is a useful comfortable running pouch that not only looks stylish but holds everything I need too. With all things like this, I guess it does come down to preference as everyone is different and finds different things comfortable when running but for me, this is definitely something you should give a try!

I have diabetes so the Buddy Pouch would be a good way for me to keep some of my essentials close whilst I’m out and about.
