If you’re investigating methods to help you conceive, then diet is an important aspect which you should investigate. Trying to conceive can be an exciting time for a couple but also a worrying one. Many couples have some anxiety over whether they are healthy and whether conceiving will be easy. Others may have been trying for some time without success and so trying to make some lifestyle changes.

Research into how diet affects fertility is ongoing but current research suggests that diets that are high in unsaturated fats, whole grains, vegetables, and fish have a positive impact on fertility. There is evidence to show that obesity has a negative effect on fertility and women who are underweight can also experience infertility.
How to make easy changes to your diet
With so many fad diets around it can be hard to make the right choices as far as diet is concerned. You should never undertake a crash diet whilst trying to conceive. If you are overweight or obese, seek the advice of your doctor to work out a healthy diet and exercise plan.
Simple rules to remember include the following:
- Processed foods are higher in salt, fat and sugar
- Whole foods are foods which have not been processed in any way – so meat, fish, fresh vegetables, and fruit as well as rice and grains
- Drink plenty of water
- Stop drinking fizzy drinks
- Alcohol contains a lot of sugar and is not recommended
Try not to obsess over the changes you need to make. It’s important to keep a balanced mind and worrying about your diet will also have a negative impact.
If you are concerned about your fertility or would just like to know if there are any issues, you could have yourself checked out at a trustworthy place, for example this clinic is a great choice for a fertility evaluation in London
Eat regular meals and stay hydrated. Get plenty of exercise and if possible, have your partner join in – you can work on this together.
