How often do you shave your legs? Probably around 3 times a week as a minimum I would guess depending on the weather and clothes you wear? How often do you change your razor blade? When it gets blunt? When they are on offer at the supermarket? Or when you remember to buy more? Such a pain isn’t it. Not to mention how women’s razors always seem to be that bit more expensive than men’s and pink!
What if we don’t want pink or want a ladies one that is cheaper? Trying a new one can mean cutting your legs to shreds with a cheap one or sticking to what you know and paying a fortune. Frustrating isn’t it? When I was asked to review the Friction Free Shaving I was curious as to whether it would be very good. I was brave though and took it on holiday to try it there where obviously my legs needed shaving at least once a day!
Friction Free Shaving – What is this?
You know that horrible feeling when your razor blade needs changing and the shave just doesn’t feel right? It makes you sore or just doesn’t shave as close as it once did? That feeling is horrible isn’t it but until you have new blades you are stuck with it. Well, this is something Friction-Free shaving wanted to conquer.
This is a subscription box with a difference, unlike on Amazon where you select your usual product and ask for it to be delivered as often as you wish this is a monthly delivery you set up once and every 4 weeks you get new razor blades. Yes, that is blades, not one or two, you get one for each week. For four blades a month you have one delivery and never have to worry about buying blades again. Never are you stuck having not remembered to pick them up and having a blunt razor when you need to get ready to go out. Never do you have to opt for trousers as you forgot to buy the blades. One less thing to remember and worry about.
There is also the option to add products for shaving if you like them so something else not to worry about!
The reality
So in reality what is the razor like? As I said earlier I was brave and took this new razor with me on holiday to try it out! We went to Majorca and it was so hot you wouldn’t believe so with dresses, shorts and swimming stuff I needed to keep shaving. I took two blades with me as although they say one per week we went for 8 days and with me literally showering and shaving morning and night every day I was worried one may not be enough.
Well, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. After accidentally putting in the blade upside down and thinking it wasn’t working (only I could do that!!) I discovered it was an amazing razor. The one blade was absolutely fine for 8 days so I could throw it away and use the new one when home. Despite me shaving twice a day it was as good at the end of the holiday as it had been at the beginning.
How Much is it?
If you are anything like me you are now thinking, this is too good to be in my price range? Actually, it really isn’t. It is more expensive than you probably spend now, but remember now you often have blunt razors and have to resort to trousers as you forgot to buy them! How much do you usually spend on 4 blades? Do you end up buying them when they aren’t on offer as you forget? The price of Friction-free shaving is really simple. The initial cost is from £5 (for the razor with a 3 blade head). The razor I had is a 6 blade head and is £9 and includes the first set of blades. The 6 blade one can even be engraved for a little extra which would be perfect for a teenager or preteen’s first razor. The add on options of cream etc are your choice and it is easy to not have them if you prefer.
The blades you can choose to have monthly or two monthly depending I guess on how often you shave and wish to change the blades. If you chose the 3 blade razor it can be just £5 a month for blades, for the 6 blades it is £9 a month. Obviously though if you chose alternate months that works out cheaper too and change the blades less often. If you are not sure it is easy to contact them and change so don’t worry too much about that. If you buy it and don’t like it just cancel though I am sure you won’t want to!
Friction Free Shaving – How good is the shave?
I found it to be brilliant, and you know me I am always honest and tell you if I don’t get on well with a product! I had previously used a Venus razor and blades which I am sure many of you use too and I love it and wondered if this would compare but actually it was brilliant and just as good if not better. I love the fact that it is one cost every month taken care of so there is no reason to ever have to have stubbly legs again. Though sometimes I guess we all just cant be bothered with shaving our legs can we!
I would honestly recommend it though and I think you will also be pleasantly surprised. It isn’t often that something is good value, easy to order and actually good quality is it but this really is. A complete revolution in shaving and makes you wonder why no one thought of this before for us ladies. There are too many brands focussing on men and this actually suits both so worth thinking about the engraving so it stays yours!
