Use creative games

With so many different games out there for kids to try there’s a wealth of opportunities for your child to have fun and think creatively.

Have a go at lots of different games to nurture your child’s creative side, such as board games that rely on them making quick decisions, or using building blocks.

Games and toys that don’t necessarily have an end goal are perfect for this sort of environment as it helps children understand there doesn’t always need to be a target to reach.

Lean into art

When we think of art we tend to turn to painting, drawing or colouring books. While they all will give your child the ability to think creatively and explore all areas of their curiosity there are also other aspects of art to consider.

Photography, film, performance art and music are also areas of art your child could learn to enjoy that help them think creatively. This is where you can use musical instruments, TV shows, educational kid’s films and books to help children feel more inquisitive.

Invite your child to ask open questions

Open questions guide your child through the world, figuring out where they fit in society and how they can overcome problems.

There are many ways your child can appreciate open conversations, as it helps them understand the world better if they have the opportunity to talk to you about what interests them.

So many questions could be answered through you, and your child will have heaps of them. Facilitate that environment to help them think in a creative manner.

Let your child take the lead

Another good way of helping children feel like they are in control of their creative side is by letting them take charge. Give them the opportunity to make decisions, and run with their funny ideas if they are possible.

It helps make a child feel more comfortable if they know they are being listened to, and it gives them the confidence to make quick decisions. If they want to take the lead somewhere then let them have a go!

Creativity is in all of us and is recommended by all schools.

It’s a good opportunity for children to find who they really are and it makes sure that your child learns they can be whoever they want to be. Ensure your child explores that with you from a young age.
