People are finally putting more of a focus on mental health and realizing that it’s just as important as physical health. Taking care of your physical health is fantastic, but if you’re not also paying attention to your mental health, you’ll probably experience issues at some point. These issues can range from mild stress to a full-blown nervous breakdown. Below, we’re going to take a look at the things you can do every day to positively impact your mental health. Take a look and see what you can start doing today to feel an improvement!

Meditation
Meditation seems to be a new buzzword in the health industry, but honestly, it’s for a good reason. Spending just 10 minutes meditating per day can help you to gain clarity on certain situations, reduce stress, improve creativity, and so much more. Of course, the more you do it, the more you notice the benefits. You can get into the habit by doing just 1 minute each day and building yourself up. Use an app or a YouTube video to help you if you need it!
Pamper yourself
Pampering yourself is really important in improving your mental health. I love the idea of spa days but it isn’t all about that. Pampering yourself can be as simple as running yourself a bath with your favourite bubble bath instead of the cheap one, spending extra time putting make up on even if you are not going anywhere or wearing jewellery. The key is to think of it as doing nice things for yourself not for anyone else. There is no rule to say that stunning necklace you were given for your birthday or Antique Earrings given as an anniversary present have to be only for special occasions, wear them on a miserable Wednesday too, you are worth it!
Learn How To Say No
Stop agreeing to do things you really don’t want to do. There’s nothing worse for your mental health! You might feel bad or guilty, but if something is going to have an even bigger negative impact on your mental health by agreeing, then you should say no. Pure and simple!
Take Supplements Alongside A Healthy Diet
Certain supplements (when taken alongside a healthy diet, of course) can help you to reduce stress, improve sleep, and gain clarity. Supplements won’t do all of the work for you if you’re not attempting to change your habits too, so bear that in mind. They are definitely not a magical solution to all of your issues!
Exercise
Most people recommend exercise as a way to improve your physical health, and of course, it’s great at that. However, exercise is also a brilliant mental health booster. Even a short, sweaty session or a simple yoga session can help you to reduce stress and prepare you for the day. Many people love exercising earlier on in the day as it helps to prepare them for whatever the day throws at them, allows them to focus better, and encourages them to continue the day with a positive mindset. When you exercise in the morning, you automatically get that sense of achievement, too!
However, you don’t have to exercise in the morning to enjoy the benefits. Any time of day that you find best will work. Just make sure you incorporate it into your routine in a way you enjoy.
Take A Nap
A 15-20 minute nap could be just what you need to get a little more energy and continue your day without any issues. This is why so many workplaces are introducing nap pods! Working constantly is not the best way to get more done – it certainly isn’t the best way to put out a higher quality of work. Many of the most successful and intelligent people past and present swear by napping.
Do Things You Enjoy
Take time each day to do the things you enjoy. You don’t have to be getting paid to spend time doing something. Whether you enjoy writing, painting, crafting, making model train sets or doing something completely different, make the time for it. Even a short amount of time each day will lift your spirits.
Keep Your Time Online To A Minimum
Spending too much time online can be dangerous. Ever noticed how sometimes you’ll be scrolling, and magically an hour has gone by? It’s easily done. Social media sites are designed to keep us stuck on them, much like casino games. Stay mindful whenever you’re using social media and other online platforms, and make it your mission to live life more in the real world. Instead of scrolling through endless photos of other people why not get some lovely pictures for your home from somewhere like Photowall of the people that mean the most to you? It is much better to look at photos that bring you happy thoughts, don’t you think?
Try Something New
We all need novelty to be happy. In fact, many studies show that novelty can help us to feel like we’re living a longer, more fulfilling life. What can you try today? So many places were full of second-hand smoke years ago, why not try them now?
Gardening is great for our mental health, why not look at growing something either in a flower bed or in some pots? If you are worried about the cost of this then there are lots of ways to how to get plants cheap or even free!
Journal
Journaling can help you to clear your head and decipher confusing feelings. Research has also shown that it can reduce stress and depression. Don’t edit yourself – just write and write!
Look At Your Thoughts Objectively You are not your thoughts. You don’t have to follow a certain train of thought just because it popped into your head. Try not to let negative thoughts take you over by remembering you can choose which thoughts you tune into. This will have a huge impact on your mood and mental health over time!

Very interesting list. Some of them I do, some I have done, but probably need to get back to doing. And the one about journaling is scary, because that’s the second time today that this has been suggested.
